what we Support

Helping the Arts Thrive Across Croton-Harmon Schools

CHAMP channels funding, advocacy, and community energy into real, measurable support for students, educators, and arts programs throughout the Croton-Harmon School District.

We don’t replace the school’s investment in the arts—we amplify it. Our goal is to help programs meet their core needs and go beyond the bare minimum, creating space for students to access richer, deeper creative experiences that spark growth and connection.

The following categories represent areas CHAMP may support, but we remain responsive to evolving needs across the district.

While we are guided by these focus areas, we are always open to new ideas that support equity, creativity, and access to the arts.

How it Works

CHAMP welcomes proposals and ideas from educators, administrators, and students working alongside faculty. Whether you have a big vision or a small but important need, we want to help you bring it to life.

We aim to make the process clear, supportive, and grounded in what best serves students and the long-term health of arts programs.

Proposal Review Timeline

We accept ideas and inquiries year-round, but CHAMP holds two formal review periods each school year—one in the fall and one in the spring—when funding decisions are made based on available resources and district priorities.

Here’s What to Expect:

  1. Submit a brief proposal form (coming soon)

  2. A CHAMP committee reviews each proposal

  3. We’ll follow up to let you know if your idea is approved, funded, deferred, or needs more info

  4. We stay in touch along the way—so you're never left wondering

What We Consider

To help guide decisions, we use a simple rubric. It’s not about checking boxes—it’s about making sure we’re thoughtful and fair in how we allocate support. Proposals are reviewed across the following areas:

  • Curricular Relevance
Does the idea support classroom instruction or learning goals?

  • Student Access
Will it help more students participate or break down barriers?

  • Educational Value
Will students learn something new, grow creatively, or deepen their skills?

  • Community Impact
Will it bring visibility to the arts, build school pride, or strengthen the culture of creativity?

  • Sustainability
Can it make a lasting impact or be reused over time?

  • Cross-Program Reach
Will it benefit more than one school, grade level, or student group?

  • Feasibility
Is it realistic in terms of timing, budget, and resources?

This process helps us stay true to our mission and make the biggest possible impact with the resources we have. If you ever have questions about whether something might be a good fit—reach out. We’re happy to talk it through.

CHAMP exists to support and strengthen arts education in Croton-Harmon—and that starts by listening closely to the teachers who lead these programs every day.

Right now, we're focused on helping meet the core needs our educators have identified: instruments, materials, technical support, and other essentials that keep programs running and help students thrive.

While we follow the lead of educators when it comes to classroom priorities, CHAMP is not just a fundraising arm—we’re a community-led effort with a mission to advocate for strong, visible, and well-resourced arts programs across the district. That means we may raise ideas, identify opportunities, or help shape conversations around what’s possible.

We welcome input from families, students, and community members. If you have an idea or suggestion, feel free to share it—it may help inform future planning or be passed along to the right people. Our role is to boost, not direct—and we’re always working in partnership with those closest to the work.
